Russell Halimon – Eagle Eye Athlete of the Week

Eagle Eye Sports is pleased to announce that Russell Halimon, 2016 Running Back at Allatoona High School, has been named this week’s Athlete of the Week.  After receiving many offers, Russell recently committed to the University of Arizona.

Russell started playing sports at a very young age.  He was only 5 when he began playing organized football.  In addition to football, Russell has played basketball and baseball.

Russell says that seeing how his Mom raised 5 children in a way that increased their chances to get to the next level is what motivates him to play hard.  He wants to do well to make her life less stressful.

If Russell were not playing football, he would definitely want to have a career in which he could work with animals.  His major at the University of Arizona will be Zoology.

Although Russell was the rushing leader in Cobb County during his junior season, Russell said that the highlight of his football career was when he called home while on a trip to Ohio to tell his mom that he had received his first offer from Ohio Dominion.  He said “to hear the happiness in her voice knowing that she would not have to stress about paying for college will be a memory that will be treasured forever”.

When asked about words of wisdom that he would like to share, Russell said “to stay humble and pray for what you want”.  He also stressed the importance of staying focused in the classroom and working hard.

Russell would like to thank God, Coach Derrick Tatum, and Eagle Eye Sports for believing in him.

Please take time to view Russell’s highlights from this season.
